Humorous Poetry from a Plant That Talks

“Mighty Joe House Plant”

Hello, I’m your sick little house plant. I’m here to tell you I am dying.

Now don’t you worry and start your blubbering and crying.

I know you probably have a million reasons you want me to live;

But take heart, I’m going to give.

Now you wonder why I said I’m going to give.

I’ve given birth, so now my son will live.

He’s taking my place, right next to me;

Be gentle, he’s very sensitive, as you see.

I call him Mighty Joe; you call him what you want

I’m wilting slowly on my heavenly gaunt.

Plant heaven waits for me;

I’ll get with my lost friends and Mikey the tree.

We will all share our stories of how it used to be.

While listening to beautiful music by the brook, you see.

It’s beautiful in Plant Heaven I’ve been told;

The greenery is magnificent, almost like human gold.

Mighty Joe will take my place on your flower stand.

He’ll grow big and be your lush green muscle man.

He won’t be a flower bloomer as I was; men never are.

But just look toward the sky. I won’t be far.

I’ll shape soft clouds just for you;

And paint a beautiful rainbow too.

So now my last goodbye is finally said,

I’m laying down my tired flower head.

To rest in peace on well-loved dirt,

And bless Mighty Joe, my little squirt!
