“A Day of Thanks”

On this Thanksgiving Day,

I have tons of thanks to say.

I thank the Lord for the many days I survived,

I thank the Lord for all those who have served and died.

With many thanks for all things here,

I am not, popping open a smelly beer!

I want to thank the Lord for this day and all to come.

Being thankful is certainly, alien for some.

I am thankful for my family and friends,

That understand the glory of love that the good Lord sends.

I am thankful for the many splendors this life does give,

That, I enjoy life to the fullest, while here on Earth, I live.

I feel Thanksgiving should be every single day, of the week,

In a prayer said, at least once, maybe twice a day for the meek.

For we are here for only a very short while,

Why not say, “thank you,” with a smile.

For we never know when that one day our life will end,

Or if on that day, our soul will even ascend…

From this world for which we now occupy,

To our new home with our father, in the sky.

Let us all be thankful we are alive,

Smile boldly, no matter how you thrive.

Be thankful to the Lord, for all He hath done,

Now to enjoy turkey with family and have some fun.
