“A Surprise in Every Package“

Do you know who gives the most presents away every year?

I bet they love doing it with a lot of cheer.

No, it’s not Santa Claus or St. Chris Kringle;

And no, it’s not the rich and famous that are single.

Day after day we see them six days a week

Their job is certainly not for the meek.

Whether it’s a good day or bad,

They work hard delivering us presents; to make us glad.

Their best thing about giving these presents away;

They never pay a dime out of their pay.

Are you finally figuring it out, who it is by now,

Who the gift giver is; somehow.

If you guessed Santa or Chris, you’re dead wrong.

Start singing that dreadful Grinch song.

As Santa brings toys to little girls and boys.

He fills their little hearts with many fun joys.

If you guessed the mailman, you are right.

They give daily gifts, without a fight.

They deliver our gifts with a smile;

As they each day walk many miles.

Just to get packages and letters to us;

And they do it without much fuss.

They’re just glad it’s your gift –not theirs.

Some of their presents bring us scares.

They don’t cost them any money;

Isn’t that just so funny!

Wrapped in envelopes, big and small

The greatest gift they give us all…

Bills!
