Finding Wealth in Life’s Challenges

I’m Poor, Yet I Am Rich”

If I only had perfect health;

I would have so much wealth.

But I don’t have perfect health;

And I certainly don’t have any wealth.

I’m a sickly old fart;

Who loves to play a game of darts.

I can barely see the board;

I have little; I’m not a hoarder.

A few good clothes, a pair of shoes…

I read scrap papers to know the news.

Day by day, my health takes its toll.

I have nowhere to live, so I live like a mole.

See, cardboard boxes are my friends.

I scrounge for food scraps to no end.

It’s what keeps me going, as I want to survive.

People look at me as if I’m nothing but a dive.

If I’m a dive, I don’t care.

Who said this life was ever fair?

If I only had perfect health;

I would have so much wealth.

But for now, low and behold;

This old fart, he has a heart of gold!

Don’t you be sorry for me;

I love me, can’t you see.

My Father in heaven, he takes care of me.

He gives me shelter, my boxes, you see.

He gave me these shoes, pants, and this shirt;

I’m sorry it’s all dirty and so full of dirt.

But that’s okay, come the next rain;

I’ll clean these clothes. I can’t complain.

God gives me water, I scamper for food,

The butcher gives me eatables when he’s in the mood.

I maybe poor a man in bad health;

Please remember I do have wealth.

See, I have a special love, a heart of gold.

Even though I am in poor health and old…
