Uncle Tim’s Festive Holiday Preparations

“Uncle Tim’s Christmas Preparations”

“Hey Uncle Tim, what’s with the pine tree? Do you think it’s going to be Christmas, maybe?”

Why, yes. It’s going to be Christmas, as you recall, I’m going to have a decorating ball myself. With lights, garland and ornaments to boot. Can’t forget, dear Old Saint Nick in his little red suit!

With gifts under the tree, so gaily wrapped, my bank account will surely shrink and I’ll be strapped. As I will spend like crazy, to make this year fun. Cause I was granted this by my cousin, the Hamster on the Run guy!

I’ve got a tree, seven feet tall, I have garland twenty-four feet, for the hall. I bought eight strands of lights for the tree, ten strands for outside so you can see. I’m making it nice and bright, inside and out, I want Saint Nick to find me, without a doubt.

I cleaned my chimney from all the soot, so, Saint Nick can come freely down and go kaput! I went to the market, that was okay, I wanted fresh cookies for that special day! I also bought some expensive reindeer hay, they need something to nosh on, wouldn’t you say?

I told you this was going to have a decorating ball, I’m going to start with the long, downstairs hall. Plug those lights in, let’s see if they light, Then I better hold on to them real tight! I don’t want to let them go, until I have everything just so. I’m done, hall looks great, now the tree is my next great fate.

Seven feet tall, I’ll tie the lights around my waist in hopes, I don’t fall. Up, up, the ladder I go. Bringing the lights with me all aglow. Placing them carefully as can be. Making the tree look bright and sparkly for all to see. This year Uncle Tim’s tree will certainly be bright. Oh…such a beautiful delight!

Oh, no, I think I’m stuck! That figures, that’s my luck. Right by the red and blue light, now, I got to free myself, wow, I must be some sight. I got myself tangled in my strings of lights. They tangled around my leg so tight! Help! I’m being held captive by my tree! Anyone out there, can you hear me?

Dong, dong, dong, dong, the clock strikes four. There’s a knock at my door. Come on in, open the door!!! Please wipe your feet, I just washed the floor!!! Help, I’m stuck in my tree! I can’t get free!

“I hear you, where are you, everywhere I look it’s so bright!”

I’m over here, by the Christmas tree lights! My leg is caught and is wrapped around the light wire. After I get out of this mess, I think I’ll retire. I will retire my holiday decorating for today, Let’s go talk, I’ll need a break, okay?

“Yes, let’s get you out of this, put your leg over here, not in my ear!”

I’m sorry, I didn’t know that was your ear. I can’t see to steer.

“That’s okay, you’re free, now come down slowly, follow me.”

I really appreciate your help, wasn’t sure if you even heard me yelp.

“I heard it, faintly, but all is alright, you’re out now from your sting of lights!”

Thanks, want some Eggnog, I got it fresh from our grocer manager, Mr. Tesch.

“No, No, thank you, I’m fine, look how time flies, it’s almost my dinner time. I hate to be that late person for dinner. I just want you to know, I did have some fun.”

That’s alright, at least my tree is beautiful and bright, I got to string every light. Now all I have got to do is trim the outside. But, for tonight, I’m going to let it slide. I need my beauty rest, so tomorrow I can decorate outside, to my very best. I want this Christmas to be just perfect, no hesitation, I must detect.

Morning came too soon, the sun is shining, not the moon. After breakfast, I’ll start the yard, but I need to remember to be on my guard. So, when the neighbor lets George loose, I’m not eaten by his Christmas Goose.

See, George gets to play outside every day, until that special meal of the day. Then George is no more. I have ham with the trimmings, so sweet, with pies and ice cream–yummy to eat.

Quit procrastinating, get yard lights! I must do them now, before noon somehow. Guests are coming soon; they’ll be here by noon, to see my special yard and tree. That I spent all my savings on you see!

Enjoy this holiday season. Don’t give Saint Nick a reason not to stop on by, for he is just a wonderful, gift giving guy!

Have a safe and healthy Merry Christmas all!
