“Packages & Letters”
Twelve messages and packages all in a row;
I wonder what’s inside them; I don’t know.
Here’s a letter that came in the mail today;
It looks important; let’s find out, what do you say?
Crinkle, crinkle, just another advertising prank;
Trying to sell me something I don’t want; I’m being frank.
What advertisers will do to get a sale;
Clogging your mailbox with their advertising mail.
Now here’s a heavy box they left by my front door.
Do I unwrap it, pry it open, or torch it on the floor?
Look at all the sticky tape, staples, and plastic wrap;
This package will refuse to open with a gentle tap.
I’ll tug and yank, pull, twist, and tear;
Cutting my fingers opening this package, sender this isn’t fair.
Finally, after all the frustration that parcel brought;
It wasn’t worth the effort — not even a thought.
It was advertising junk mail; the mail carrier had brought;
With a package rattling inside, whoever sent, had bought.
All that trouble for the broken items in the package I got —
At least they won’t make my garbage smell of food rot.
Now, the messages I get through my internet mail —
You can believe me; most are spam, without fail.
Inside, a note from a loved one surely would be a nice find;
Digging through my inbox of spam is upsetting to my mind.
Just deleting all the spam is a chore in itself;
Sometimes I wish I had a magic Internet elf.
To bring me some good news, like winning some money;
A wishful thought; isn’t that just so funny?
I play a game called: “Take My Money Game;”
There’s no good news of winning money or fame.
Only reminder messages from billing departments bills…
I have yet to pay. Where are my headache pills?
