Understanding Life from a Dog’s Perspective

Wagging Wisdom: Life from a Dog’s Perspective.”

Finally, I caught the thing; now what do I do?

This thing, I’ve been chasing it forever; I’ve earned this chew.

Biting down hard; I gave it a slimy bite;

But something felt wrong and not very right.

What is this thing attached to me, I see?

It wiggles, waddles; and it’s sure a part of me.

Humans call it a tail, a functional tool;

I never learned that word at doggy school.

I always thought it was a way to talk, besides barking.

And to cover my hinder part, when farting.

It’s a hassle sometimes when I must go poop;

Sometimes I squat and lift it so it doesn’t droop.

If I forget, phooey, I need to clean the nasty thing;

It doesn’t taste very good or make my tongue sing.

I’ll let it go free; it’s hard to move, holding it this way.

I guess I can let it do its thing, and sway.

Back and forth, with no, never mind,

I’m guessing, these humans think it’s kind.

My way of telling them, I am happy or sad.

It must be comforting to know I’m not mad.

I’ll live with this tail that’s attached to me.

Leaving it alone for everyone to see.

Time to play now; my master has my ball.

It’s fun when it’s his turn to run and fall!
