“Henry the Story telling Dragonfly”
Hello, I’m Henry, the Dragonfly,
I like to zip around in the sky.
I want to tell you a story about a little girl named Addison,
She lives up north by the capital near the city of Madison.
She was at her grandma’s house helping out one day,
Enjoying the sunshine and then some play.
Grandma and Mom were running a Rummage Sale out on the lawn,
Then little ole me, flapped my tiny wings, as if dancing to a song.
Addison then spotted me fluttering around her grandmas’ tables,
She had seen one or twice in her trusty bedtime fables.
She began thinking hard and decided to give me a name.
To her, Henry, seemed right, and I thought the same.
She followed me around the yard from here to there,
We were a happy-go-lucky, smiling pair.
As evening approached, the rummage began to close,
Mom asked Addison, “Honey, what happened to your clothes?”
“I got them dirty by following Henry to the woods.” Addison replied,
“I tripped and fell, chasing Henry, and did a nosedive.”
Addison just got back up after her fall,
She didn’t care because she was having a ball!
Addison was sad as it was getting quite dark,
Telling me, “Henry, go hide on the tree’s bark.”
She’ll see me tomorrow to play some more.
This little Addison is a sweet little girl of four.
Morning came fast, Addison, called out for me,
I was gone nowhere she could see.
She yelled out, “Mom, where’s Henry? I can’t find him!
I hope he didn’t drown in the lake, because he can’t swim!”
Mom, relied, “Henry went home, Sweety, he needed his rest.
Just like you and I do, to look our best!”
Addison, sulked for a while,
Then she returned with a great big smile.
Remembering her favorite bedtime book,
On the headboard of her private bedroom nook.
“I have Henry!” She yelled, on their way home.
“He’s in my bedroom, next to my monkey, Jerome!”
“Nobody better take my book, because I’ll be sad,
Missing Henry, and the fun we had.”
So, this ends my story of sweet little Addison,
Who lives up north with me, near the city of Madison.
