“Doctor Visit: Oh Fun”
My alarm went off without a hitch,
I surely can’t sleep; what a bitch,
Got to be at the hospital at quarter to seven;
This isn’t fun, and it’s sure isn’t heaven!
Early morning testing, boy what fun,
It makes me feel like I want to run.
Poking me with needles; my arm is sore;
Now, quit being a nurse; I don’t want this anymore!
Filling little tubes of my O positive blood,
Sometimes I wish I would give a dud.
Checking my iron ~ red blood cells too.
I have Jello veins; and my bloods like glue.
What do they expect so early in the morning?
Snagging my blood without any warning.
Then, to my surprise, they handed me a jar,
Telling me, the bathrooms, not too far.
Nothing like draining me of my bodily fluids,
They must think I’m one of those fancy druids.
Two hours have gone by ~ I’m hungry like an ox,
Wife brought me energy bars~ I want eat the whole box.
I want authentic food now that I’m so darn weak;
I stuffed two energy bars into both of my cheeks.
I’m looking like a chipmunk who’s ready to run,
Can’t wait. I’m going home soon, where I can eat a ton.
Got to replace those precious fluids they drained,
And rest my arm, the needle stuck pained.
Time for a nap, to catch up on some rest,
As in six months ~ they’ll need another test.
That’s it for me.
