“Ode to Box of Donuts”
Oh, dear box of donuts, how you sweeten my muse,
You haunt me with sugary temptation and light my fuse.
Your delicious grace, plus that savory scent—
A gift from heaven, you are worth every penny spent.
I see you all neatly packed in a row,
If I snatch one of you, you’ll see me grow.
My husband brought you home last night—
I sneaked a peek and sniffed with delight.
They say love’s fattening; I totally disagree;
The coconut ones are all I want, you see.
Forget the plain and powdered sugar ones,
All they do is make loads of crumbs.
So here I stand, with this yummy, sweet box,
My mouth is watering, dripping onto my socks.
This is a dream I didn’t expect to come true—
Thank you, dear husband, I love you!
