Navigating Golf and Aging: A Heartfelt Goodbye

“Aging Disappointment: Losing Independence”

When golf’s your joy, you just can’t give up,

Take the wife along, to help you stand up.

Be that wandering, aging, spirited, old coot.

Who needs help from the, Mrs. and not her kind boot.

A hole-in-one is what you try to get,

But you’ve lost the ball, now you surely, regret.

You look for the flag that’s in the next hole,

Grab a club—aim for the pole.

Teeing off wondering where did it go?

“Wifey can you see?” Please, tell me, so?”

Papa, you missed it again, sweet dear,

I think it’s time; retire this game, it’s very clear.

We need to put your putters and clubs to bed,

Your eyes are worse like the doctor said.

I know dear, you feel so young at heart,

But it’s time you and this golf game must part.

There are other things we can do, as we age,

We can play Bingo, cards, and swim at this stage.

I love you with all my heart,

You know I’m right and right from the start.

I know you loved this game so much,

But our extremities are out of touch.

Be a good soul and let’s go home.

I’ll call a taxi from my phone.
