Seven Days to Pause: A Poem About Bills, Choices, and Creative Resilience

“The Count Down Begins”

Seven days and counting —

I can feel your why’s mounting.

Times are getting too tough;

paying bills are rough.

Got to make some choices,

says my mind and tiny voices.

When the coast is clear,

I’ll come back here.

I always had fun —

that’s not a pun —

writing my poems

with my little gnomes.

Time will tell how long I’ll be.

Sooner than later, I’ll become free —

free from them tough bill times.

When I am, you’ll hear my chimes.

I’ll be back writing in full force,

not being Godiva though upon her horse —

Being me, the one who loves to write,

because it fills my heart with delight.
