“Hippie Days”
I remember the Hippie Days oh so well,
Dressing up colorful—it sure was swell.
Long beaded necklaces around my neck,
War sirens blaring—we hit the deck.
Yes, it was during war times I did live,
Fallout shelter directions they did give.
Living in the city, that was big news—
If you snooze, you’ll lose.
“Make love, not war,” the rallying cry,
Kids marching for peace, flags held high.
I was one who joined the throng,
But all I did was sing peaceful songs.
Make love, not war.
