“Jenny Loves Kite Flying”
“Hey Jenny, I love the box on your string up high!
It’s just hanging there, high up in the sky!”
“Well, that’s a replica of my dad’s kite way up there, you see.
It’s springtime, he showed me how to make it – we had fun, him and me.
Kites he says come in many different sizes, colors, and shapes,
Somewhere, he bets, you could get one in purple shaped of grapes!
But I never looked for food ones. I bet they’d be cool.
I love flying my kite here on the football field at school.
It’s a big open field with no wires or trees,
And there is a great little kite-flying breeze.
It was easy getting my kite to fly —
This breeze lifted it up easily, and high!”
“How do you get it up if there if there’s no breeze?”
“I start running fast with the line extended hoping to make a breeze,
pulling the kite behind me. If that doesn’t work, I just don’t fly.
No wind then saves me trouble of trying to get it sky-high.
Sometimes, the tail might be too short or even too long.
Then you must adjust it so the kite flies smoothly along.”
“I see… maybe I’ll get a kite and join you someday.
Then we both can have fun — what do you say?”
‘Sure, that would be great! Maybe others will join us too.
That would be impressive, and amazingly cool!
Just remember, we need some wind to help them fly,
Or they won’t have a chance like this one, being high in the sky.
This is so fun and relaxing just flying my kite on this beautiful day.
I love it so much; it’s such a perfect way to play.”
