Too Much Religion, Not Enough Play: A Poem About Faith, Nature, and Everyday Joy

(A lighthearted reflection on balancing spiritual themes with the simple beauty of the world around us.)

“Let’s Write About the World God Made”

Too many religion posts, not enough play —

Oh my lord, what did I just say?

I read a lot about Jesus the King,

And all it brings about is a loving thing.

Many post Christian words each day,

Sometimes too many- I’d rather feed birds, I say.

There is more to life than one would know,

Like flowers that smell good and beautifully grow.

Or a Vegetable garden with plenty goodies to eat.

Or a butcher who sells plenty of delicious meat.

Too much religion, not enough play–

So here is my writing for today.

It’s not just religion, or talk of the King;

I bring His efforts that make humans sing.

For God made the world of which we thrive-

Creatures and insects, which help us to survive.

I love to read what God did for us,

But too much at once makes me fuss.

Let’s water the plants and help them grow,

Let’s help the farmer in the fields he will sow

Let’s climb to a tree house built by a child,

Let’s use our imaginations to make others smile,

Let’s slumber beneath a canopy made by a tree,

And wonder through the woods to see all we can see.

There is so much beauty, so much to do-

Let’s get going and write about a few.

Explore the world that was made for me and you,

There’s always something to discover that feels brand new.
