“Nothing Is Ever Promised: Nothing Stays the Same”
Why do people have to be so cruel?
Haven’t we learned the simple golden rule.
We’re so divided now it feels unreal;
What on earth is the worldly deal.
Life shifts and changes just like the weather—
Why can’t we learn to live in peace together.
I understand the saying, “each to their own,”
Yet the only common ground we share is our phone.
When times get rough and war breaks out,
Everyone starts to scream and shout.
Why? This cycle’s been here for years—
War brings nothing but pain, and tears, and fears.
Today we’re drowning in media everywhere;
Truth or lies, it’s hard to tell what’s really there.
Back before TV and endless platforms to compare,
Most people didn’t know—or didn’t even care.
Life was simpler then, than it is today.
Better watch your neighbor—he might butcher a cow his way.
Someone now would throw a fit about that cow,
Yet they’ll still eat the meat and grill it somehow.
Too many people stick their nose where it doesn’t belong;
That’s where the trouble starts, and the fights grow strong.
Yelling, blaming, killing—no one seems aware
Of what they’re fighting for, or if it’s just fear in the air.
I don’t understand this world we face today,
But who am I to judge or say.
I believe in the Lord’s loving way,
And I’ll be glad to go home someday.
Author’s Note: This poem was sparked by an article that left me shaking my head at how quickly people judge and how little they consider the bigger picture. Life changes like the weather, and promises — especially in a world full of noise, opinions, and obstacles — aren’t always simple. This piece is my way of sorting through the frustration, remembering what truly matters, and grounding myself again in faith and common sense.
