“Family”
As the years float on by,
I sometimes want to cry.
Of a family I once had,
All but three already died.
Grandparents were first to go;
Oh, how do I miss them so.
Mom was next, what a great loss;
Loved people – was never cross.
Then my dear brother went out with a bang.
I’ll never forget, God made sure of that, dang.
It was fireworks day the Fourth of July,
A day of many colors, I couldn’t even cry.
I miss these people that I loved so.
God said it was their special time to go.
Home, they went. Leaving me behind,
“Gee Lord,” I said, “You’re being so kind.”
But my Lord, “tell me, please give me a clue.”
“Your time has not come; you have things yet to do.”
“My child, I buried them deep within your soul,
My present at birth; it’s a lifetime goal.”
“When the time is perfect, the time will be clear,
Then you’ll have nothing to ever fear.”
“My angel will show you the way to come home,
Then you’ll be free to express and roam.”
“Life will be easy; no homework will there ever be.
You’ll get to sit under the tree of life, and forever see…
All the music and beauty you have hungered for;
It will all be here, when I open the gate – not before.”
“So, enjoy what you have, give love to all;
You’ll see your family again, when I do call.”
“The spirit of love will gather once more,
Waiting in the wings when I open your door.”
