The Cost of Living vs. the Cost of Giving – A Store Owner’s Truth in Verse

Illustration of a worried store owner surrounded by bills, stamps, and rising costs, titled “The Cost of Living vs. the Cost of Giving.

The Cost of Living vs. The Cost of Giving

Postal stamps are rising once again,

Thank goodness I don’t use paper and pen.

Typing online to pay my bills

Can give me a headache — where are my pills?

Then sending a package off to a friend,

Their postal costs simply refuse to bend.

The prices are too high, so the gas is too,

And maintenance costs are up the wazoo!

To stay in a small business, like I am,

I need to charge more — it’s not a scam.

Sorry folks, I must make money too;

I still need to pay my working crew.

We’re all hard up for money to make things run.

These rising costs, and stress — are never fun.

And when a tiny square stamp costs so much,

You bet it’s awful — I know it as such.

So, when the future comes as it may,

Remember, you and I will die someday.

Then all these rising prices you won’t care;

The next generation will figure out the fare.
