Why Memories Matter: Insights from Picture Books

“Picture Books of the Heart: Pieces of Life Torn Away”

Memories lost and never found,

They got buried in the ground.

On the day the photos reappear,

You remember why they were so dear.

Memories are like picture books.

For the next generation to take a look.

At names and faces never seen

Until the pages fill in between.

If it’s Mom or even Dad,

Losing these memories is so sad.

But then a photograph or two

It can ease the pain inside of you.

These are memories lost — sometimes found.

Usually the best memories are deceased, now in ground.

From dust to dust, God says, we must return;

A better life is what we earn.

God, gave us all this the day we were born,

We’re like a piece of paper when a corner is torn.

Piece by piece our life is slowly torn away;

Leading to that in memory in the ground today.
