Happy and Playful Pussy Youngen

A large Great Pyrenees dog sits calmly while an orange tabby cat drapes over his head like a floppy hat, paws hanging over his ears.

Happy and Playful Pussy Youngen: Loven My New Hat!

Hi, my name is Alfred, and this is my new hat.

His name is Cutie Pie, my wonderful cat!

Let me tell you a story,

how this cat came to its glory…

See Cutie Pie was sick one day,

needed warmth, so aboard he climbed and stayed.

At first, it was my back; he just slid around,

kept falling off and hitting the ground.

Cutie Pie was getting frustrated with me,

He kept climbing higher, and higher, you see.

Until he reached the top of my head.

This is where he made his soft bed.

He kneaded my fur until just right.

Then he laid down and ended his flight.

He got so comfortable he just drooped over my ears.

I didn’t mind; it was the least of my fears.

I could get up and walk around,

with Cutie Pie sitting on my crown.

I asked Cutie one day if he was comfortable there.

He said, “Yes, we make a swell pair!”

When my friends see me, I walk with pride.

When they ask about the cat, I say, “He’s along for the ride!”

This is my story about my new hat,

with my friend, Cutie Pie the cat.

Authors note: Inspired by my late orange tabby, Gordy, who would have loved my gentle Pyrenees, Molly. This poem celebrates their imagined friendship.
