“Tired Eyes and a Four-Hour Surprise”
As I sit and type, my eyes are tired.
Coffee doesn’t help; I’m nowhere near wired.
One sip at a time is not working too well
Guess I’ll nap off my dragging, tired spell.
Upon waking up, I noticed a light;
To my surprise, it’s the eve of night.
My light turned on to fool my brain,
Trying to keep me from going insane.
I only meant to take a short cat nap,
Looking at my clock and muttered, “Oh crap!”
Remembering, thinking I had coffee just an hour ago,
Never realizing my clock was four hours slow.
Now I’m awake with three brief hours to go;
Bedtime will come and go before I know.
Got to get me a new alarm or this old clock fixed.
Maybe I’ll toss it into the garbage out in the sticks.
I’ll buy myself an alarm that can tell the right time,
Hoping it doesn’t cost more than a mega dime.
Then maybe things will again work right,
To better knowing my day from my night!
