“I’m Losing My Home to the Flood”
There’s water — more water — everywhere…
Levees are opening, and who even cares?
Our home is being washed away,
There’s nothing more we can say.
We’ve left all that we owned behind,
God, please save my wife, please, be so kind.
You can have our home and the belongings of our life,
You can have it all. But not my beautiful soulmate wife.
Let your water wash our land and material things away,
They’re all replaceable to live life another day.
About the life’s problems, we both used to have;
This makes it seem a bit better, yet also a bit more sad.
There are now fresh problems beginning at our loving feet.
Water has ruined our crops; now there’s less for all to eat.
God, I pray, help us through this soggy, wet ordeal.
Give us fresh water and food for our next meal.
Please, Lord, help us; we’re singing your song;
You’re in our devastated hearts, where you belong.
Bless us with love and peace in this stressful time;
As we can’t hear our own clock’s chime.
Now, Lord, we only see and hear water swiftly rushing by,
Mucky, murky, polluted water; we just want to cry.
Gone, all gone, please, loving wife, I need your love.
For it’s a sad day, as water gave us this unwanted shove.
To a new beginning, we never hoped it would be this way.
On this beautiful day in May, which is now, a sunny day!
May this day prove I love you, my dear wife.
You’re the only one I love, and who matters the most in my life!
