“Anniversary Surprise”

Made beautiful Cake

Can’t cut it, I wonder why

Hot pad, still inside!

Author note: This poem comes from a real family moment. On my parents’ 25th anniversary, my sister baked them a beautiful layer cake… but forgot to remove the hot pad under one of the layers before frosting it. When Dad tried to cut the cake, the knife wouldn’t go through. After a few confused attempts, they pulled the cake apart, and burst out laughing when they found the hot pad frosted right inside the middle.
