A Simple Reminder to Enjoy Life’s Small Things

Lattice-top apple pie with two slices served on plates next to a baseball bat and ball on wooden table

“People, Places, and Oddball Things”

People, places, and oddball things.

Not as pretty, like diamond rings.

People can be cruel.

And can’t follow rules.

~

Places can be beautiful and bright.

They can also be a place for a fight.

And oddball things of this and that

It can be as simple as a ball and a bat.

~

These are things that make the world go round,

Even if they sound strange and profound.

It is the trivial things that matter most;

Those things are everywhere, coast to coast.

~

People, places, and every oddball thing

Make people happy and want to sing.

You just never know who, what, when, or where

Life leads, or better yet, treats you with care.

~

The world is full of surprises we never get to see.

You cannot be everywhere–impossible as can be.

This world is so huge; our life is too short to live.

We see what we can with the life the Lord did give.

~

So, remember the people, places, and those oddball things,

And forget the world’s cruelty with all the sorrow it brings.

Smile, life is short even when stress is high!

Do yourself a favor: go have a slice of pie.

~

It may be an odd request, but it sure will taste so good.

It beats being a termite gnawing on old, rotted wood.
