Celebrating Fireworks: Memories and Family

Children sitting on a park bench watching colorful fireworks over a lake at night

“Let’s Go to the Fireworks”

Suzie and Bryan look toward the sky;

We need to get closer to seeing the fireworks fly!

Let’s go fetch ourselves a bench or even a chair;

To sit and watch the pretties fly in the air.

~

As fireworks sparkle, they cover the sky;

We can see them with our naked eyes.

I already hear the launchers making that loud sound;

Firing over by fire trucks. Keeping us safe on the ground.

~

Shooting off those pretty beauties high into the sky,

But those loud, booming ones sometimes make babies cry.

I think they hurt my little brothers’ ears,

That’s why he sheds those little tears.

~

Our mother too loved these pretty bright lights,

They were one of her favorite earthly delights.

I sure wish she were still alive and still here,

I so miss her being here to help me cheer.

~

Wait, I see something strange up in the sky!

Look, there is a hand waving at me from up high.

It’s my mom from the heavens above,

Watching the fireworks, which she so lovingly loved.

~

God must have heard the noise and opened His door,

So, my mom could see me and feel my love soar.

Here’s to you, Mom, I have my root beer;

Now, I won’t be sad cause you’re not here.

~

Why, because I remember all you always taught,

To not get rowdy, you’ll always get caught!

So, here’s to you, Mom, I’m drinking without fear,

Why because I’m drinking my ice cold, Root Beer.
