Is It Plantar Fasciitis or Just New Shoes? A Poetic Inquiry

“Plantar Fasciitis vs. New Shoes?”

~

Doctor, doctor, give me the news;

Is it plantar fasciitis, or is it my shoes?

My feet are so painful I can hardly walk;

I wish my poor feet could only talk.

~

But if my feet could talk,

I wouldn’t need a foot doc.,

As an office visit is going to cost me a lot;

Knowing how doctors work and the money plot.

~

They have to make money from poor people like me;

Who they think has mega-dollars hanging from a tree.

Doctor, doctor, give me some good news;

I hope not plantar fasciitis, or do I just need new shoes?

~

Well, sir, this first doctor said, “I’ll tell you this;

I can make a diagnosis—it could be a miss.”

It may be your shoes; or it may not be.

I’ll refer you to Orthopedics, and they will see.”

~

A specialty doctor, who I know isn’t very cheap.

I’ll be in for the medical bills, awfully deep.

Orthopedics, open the doors, here I come;

Pretty soon I’ll be the new street corner bum.

~

Money’s tight; these bills are high;

Now, I must see an orthopedic guy.

Doctor, doctor, give me the news,

Is it plantar fasciitis or is it my shoes?

~

“Well, well,” the orthopedic doc said, after seeing my feet.

Saying I must walk alot as my feet look beat;

My shoes are so worn, they’re flapping like ducks;

Along with this visit costing me a hundred bucks.

~

So, this is what he suggests I do, go get new shoes.

Answering me, I have no plantar fasciitis—that’s good news.”

Yet, with two doctor visits, two deductibles and gas to get there;

My new shoes are costing me a pretty penny, and that’s so unfair…

~

Just to be told I need to buy new shoes;

Now, I need to start singing, the blues.
