The Villain Who Stole My Heart

Child villain costume beside ballerina dress

Have you ever liked a villain more than the hero? Who and why?

I can honestly say I do like the villain over a hero.

My answer is quite different. My favorite villains and monsters are very small -meaning children. If you have ever had the experience of having children you will understand my answer to this question.

My villain was my son, dressed in his homemade costume for a school party, a costume lovingly stitched together by his grandma, me. He strutted in like the cutest little monster you ever saw, proud of every crooked stitch and every silly detail. He wasn’t scary, not even close. He was charming, funny, and full of that innocent mischief only a child can pull off.

So yes, I’ve liked a villain more than the hero. Because sometimes the best “villains” are the ones who steal your heart instead of the show.

Besides, his dad is the hero to both of us grandpa says.
