Froggie Pie Café – A Whimsical Story Poem

Child mixing pretend food at a wooden Frog Cafe beside a pond

What Smells So Good?

~

Beetles, bugs, and little worms,

just-for-fun food with lots of germs.

Mud pies and grasshopper stew —

mix them all up for a bubbling brew!

~

See? I can cook. Want to try?

I made my special frog‑leg pie.

Now make-believe you like the taste —

can’t let my little pie go to waste.

~

I tried so hard to catch the frog,

but he was stuck beneath a log.

To his surprise, I pulled him free —

“Now to cook you!” I yelled with glee.

~

Salt and pepper to my taste,

drop him in to make the paste.

Pour him in the pie shell slow,

then watch me cast the spell I know.

~

“Froggie, Froggie, jump out quick!

I don’t want to poke you with my stick.

” I mix and moosh until just right —

we’ll call it Froggie Pie tonight.

~

The oven’s ready — pie goes in.

We sit and watch it whirl and spin.

One hour later, it’s all cooked —

tastes terrible… something overlooked.

~

That’s right — it’s Froggie Pie,

but I didn’t cook the little guy!

He’s safe and sound in his small pond —

now I’ll bring him back with my magic wand.

~

“Froggie, Froggie from the pond,

hear my chant, see my wand?”

I’m all done cooking for today —

come on, Froggie… let’s go play.
