Halloween Fun – A Whimsical Poem

Woman carving a pumpkin in a warmly decorated living room with orange lights, jack‑o’‑lanterns, and friends enjoying Halloween crafts — capturing the spirit of Debra A Winter (Richter)’s poem.

“Halloween”

~

It’s Halloween soon, and I’m getting ready.

Aunt Sue’s coming, and so is Aunt Betty.

I’m decorating for the fun we’ll have on party night,

When the witches, ghosts, and goblins all take to flight.

~

I went shopping just the other day,

Saw orange bedding and thought, why not, hey!

I laid it out all over the place,

Making my home feel festive with grace.

~

I carved my pumpkins and roasted my seeds.

I’m set for a great time; I have all I need.

Sunflower punch, carrot sticks,

and a super magician, hired to do the tricks.

~

We are going to party this Halloween night.

It’s going to be fun, such a delight!

With cackling witches and clanging chains outside on my door.

We’ll have Halloween sound effects galore.

~

I’ll stay safe in my orange-decorated house,

where I can curl up and hide like a mouse

from the festivities outside if they get too loud,

knowing that there will be an enormous crowd.

~

I must keep my doors closed when ghosts are out;

They’ll sneak inside and whirl all about.

You can’t see them, but they see you;

They love to creep up behind you and shout, “BOO!”

~

My hair stands on end and tickles me so.

I tell them to leave, but they won’t go!

Aunt Sue and Aunt Betty are here now; I love them so.

This is Halloween; a night of frights, don’t you know.
